Hofmekler is a former member of the Israeli Special Forces and he recommends people forget calorie counting and instead return our bodies to our basic instinctive eating style which is “undereating” during the day and “overeating” at night. This book suggests that breakfast is actually the worst meal of the day to eat and that people should skip it entirely. Instead people should eat one main meal in the evening with only light snacking of fresh fruits, vegetable and small amounts of lean proteins throughout the day. There is a pie chart example of the number of hours a person should and should not eat. It says for 20 hours of the day undereating should occur while for the last 4 hours of the day overeating is allowed. When people follow this plan Hofmekler says it will result in building muscles, burning fat, slow aging and accelerate metabolism. We do not know if there is scientific backing for this perspective which certainly flies in the face of most dieting advice.
