VirtualDub — компактный и качественный видео редактор с удобным пользовательским интерфейсом, содержащий большое количество аудио и видео фильтров, что позволяет произвести качественный ремастеринг необходимых данных. Одним из существенных преимуществ программы является способность выполнять многие функции без рекомпрессии данных. К плюсам программы можно также отнести простоту и доступность, а так же высокую скорость работы. Может использоваться для простых линейных операций над видео. VirtualDub предназначена в основном для обработки AVI файлов, как то: цветокоррекция, изменение размеров, обрезка (кропинг), сведение полей (деинтерлейс), нарезка и склеивание частей, компрессия, рекомпрессия, захват видео; добавление, компрессия и обработка фильтрами аудиотрека и многое другое.
VirtualDub может использовать встроенные фильтры или подключаемые модули сторонних разработчиков, которые значительно расширяют возможности программы. К примеру - фильтры: денойз, удаление статичных логотипов, даже титровка. Специальный плагин сделал возможным работу VirtualDub с vob-файлами (DVD-фильмы) и форматом MPEG2, упростив работу с данными форматами. VirtualDub также позволяет преобразование MPEG-1 в 24-bit AVI. Кроме того, достоинством Virtual Dub является принцип работы в режиме «из файла-источника в файл-приёмник», без необходимости создания файла проекта.

VirtualDub уникален тем, что может производить некоторые операции без рекомпрессии видеофайла:
• резку и склеивание по ключевым кадрам
• добавление/отрезание звуковой дорожки
• работу со звуковой дорожкой без рекомпрессии видео и наоборот

При этом, в отличие от многих других редакторов, пользователь имеет полный контроль над режимом работы. Это значит, если пользователь выбрал режим без рекомпрессии, то будет работа только без рекомпрессии (выполнить некоторые операции будет невозможно). Для сравнения, многие редакторы либо выполняют рекомпрессию всегда, вне зависимости от необходимости, либо (как например Ulead Media Studio) выполняют адаптивную рекомпрессию в местах переходов, не трогая остальной материал (пользователь при этом не знает в точности, какие участки подверглись рекомпрессии).

Второй уникальной особенностью является малая загрузка процессора и, соответственно, большая, чем у прочих редакторов, скорость работы. Достигается это за счёт того, что значительная часть VirtualDub написана низкоуровневым кодом. Расплатой за низкоуровневость является несколько ограниченная функциональность.

This is the executable package for the newest, experimental version of VirtualDub. Use this version if you don't mind hitting a new bug once in a while and want to try out the cutting edge version. Check the changelog for details.
You only need this one file if all you want to do is run VirtualDub. Unzip and start virtualdub.exe -- requires Windows 98+ or NT4.0+, 80486 or higher CPU, and 16MB of memory. (Note: Extract the full contents to a directory. Don't run it directly from the zip file.)

VirtualDub 1.9.2 (experimental) for AMD64

This version is compiled specifically for the 64-bit modes of the AMD Athlon 64, AMD Athlon FX, AMD Opteron, and Intel Xeon EM64T CPUs. You must have the x64 Extended (64-bit) version of Windows to run the 64-bit version of VirtualDub. You cannot run this version on a 32-bit version of Windows even if your CPU is 64-bit capable.

Capture: Fixed inconsistency in capture timing defaults. This only matters if you haven't already run VirtualDub in capture mode once.
Capture: The AVI superindex/subindex settings now also apply to captures.

Модификация известной программы для монтажа и обработки видео VirtualDub. Данная модификация предназначена для работы с форматом MPEG2, который не поддерживается в оригинальной версии. Поддерживает обработку файлов габаритами более 2 Гб, конвертирует видео и многое другое. Имеет очень много настроек, что дает возможность перепаковать видео, не потеряв в качестве изображения. В качестве дополнения можно скачать AC-3 декомпрессор для поддержки этого звукового формата.

ОС: Windows 98/ME/2000/XP (может работать на Vista и 7. А может не работать :))

Filters: Rescaling after changes to filter chain now extends or trims ending ranges as needed to match changes to frame count.
Filters: Fixed bug where a filter capable of both 3D accelerated and unaccelerated modes (resize) could force a conversion to YV24 at its input when RGB32 was a better match.
Filters: Filter preview no longer always runs the filter chain with the input video mode set to default.
